Notes

  • Title Note: *The student of history who has neglected to study the customs and morals of the barnyard may be misled by the term 'morganatic.' Among poultry, it represents the law's regretful approval of bigamy in certain extreme cases. It has this in common with human morganatic marriages - that it lends a cloak of respectability to certain unions where without it the participants would be cut dead by every decent hen in the barnyard.
