Historical romance set in Scotland in 1503 - the time of the marriage of Margaret and James IV - between the daughter of Edinburgh's chief armourer and a valiant trooper to the king. A mock rescue and the king's favour overcome the armourer's prejudice against the suitor. Well told. (PB).
An opera staged at Port Mahon in 1842 witnesses the reunion of the French prima donna and her husband, a French colonel, who had long believed each other dead. Narrated by a US naval officer. (PB)
