Notes

  • 'It is the task of the poet to be innovative and experimental. In assisting with the translations for this book (some of which have turned out to be parallel poems rather than translations), I did so because I feel that Victor Ramos is both innovative and experimental ... The purists may complain that the haiku should refer to the seasons. In these poems the seasons are exploration, fantasy, politics and social issues, particularly relating to the climate of Australia....' (Patricia Laird, Introduction)
  • Bilingual text with translations (or parallel poems) by Victor Ramos & Patricia Laird (t.p.)
