Davis Blood is singled out at birth; the survivor of twins, much younger than his siblings, the recipient of the cumulative eccentricity of his bizarre family, and yet, he has in some way been cheated by his twin brother’s failure to live. While his mother sings her thanksgiving hymn and his father takes him to the church of the Dissenters, his two aunts lavish on him the cunning (and punning) of language. Davis becomes a gifted natural artist, both in words and in images, his brain continually spawning ideas for drawing even the most commonplace objects in weirdly unique ways. But is he a genius, or merely a boy out of tune with the realities of life? Only time will tell.
