Similarly, Austin Anderson is probably not familiar outside military circles, where his distinguished army career won him much acclaim. He was later a private secretary to three New South Wales governors and two governor generals. In this biography of her parents, Bethia Foott has blended their lives into a rich tapestry which reflects a unique way of life in the first half of this century.
