The name Ethel Anderson may not be as well-known as that of other Australian authors, but she has been hailed as one of our best writers and poets. Similarly, Austin Anderson is probably not familiar outside military circles, where his distinguished army career won him much acclaim. He was later a private secretary to three New South Wales governors and two governor generals. In this biography of her parents, Bethia Foott has blended their lives into a rich tapestry which reflects a unique way of life in the first half of this century.
