Comprises 129 poems. Some of these poems appear in McCrae's 1909 work, Satyrs & Sunglight : Silvarum Libri. However, there is not a strong overlap between the contents of the two books and not all of the poems from Satyrs & Sunlight are included.
The poems in this volume are presented in the following sections: 'Silvarum Libri' (being the first section of early poems), 'Red John' (being the second selection of early poems), 'Colombine' (written between 1910 and 1920), a three scene tragedy, 'Orleans and Isabelle' (written between 1920 and 1926), and 'Idyllia' (written between 1921 and 1922).
