— Review of A Question of Colour : My Journey to Belonging Patricia Lees , Adam C. Lees , 2020 single work autobiography

'A Question of Colour and Debesa are both intimate and personal accounts of the forced removal of Aboriginal children from their families and their resilience and survival in the face of this removal. A Question of Colour is the story of a family in north Queensland – especially Cairns, Townsville and Palm Island – and the family story told in Debesa is set in the Kimberley in the northwest of Western Australia. The two books document different aspects of intergenerational impacts of removal under the harsh ‘assimilationist’ policies in the respective states.'  (Introduction)

1 Eurasians : Celebrating Survival Christine Choo , 2007 single work essay
— Appears in: Journal of Intercultural Studies , February vol. 28 no. 1 2007; (p. 129-141)
Choo states that the 'search for [her] Asian ancestors and [her] discoveries in archives, the crumbling pages, the eroding ink, the disappearance of the word, are a metaphor for the simultaneous emergence of the will to recover memories and the slow fading away of the material traces of memory. [...] This paper presents Eurasians and their experiences as transcultural or in the middle ground - the space where new ways of being are developed and lived in a cross-cultural environment. It explores how the definition of Eurasian is changing in the context of contemporary globalised society' (Author's abstract).
