Dr Chris Andrews holds a BSc (Melbourne), BA Hons and MA (Melbourne), and a PhD (Melbourne). He has translated three books by the Chilean writer Roberto Bolano: By Night in Chile (2003), Distant Star (2004) and Last Evenings on Earth (2006) as well as Varamo by Cesar Aira.. Andrews has been Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne in the Department of French, Italian and Spanish Studies. In 2009, he took up a position at the University of Western Sydney where he has taught literary translation and comparative literature in the School of Humanities and Languages.
