History

The Margaret River Short Story Competition, organised by Margaret River Press and Arts Margaret River, began in 2011. There are two categories to the competition: the general category, open to entrants from all around Australia; and a South West category, open to those who live in the South West of Western Australia. A call for submissions goes out in July, with a closing date of November.

The award was not offered in 2019 (i.e., for stories published in 2019, to be awarded in early 2020).
