Mrs Chisholm, single work column

This column discusses funding for the proposed compiling of information by Caroline Chisholm for a book '... showing the social condition of the middle and working classes in this colony'. A column in the preceding issue of the Morning Chronicle (3 September 1845): 2 New Publication discusses the prospectus for the intended book '... to be entitled "Voluntary Information from the People" of New South Wales, respecting the social condition of the Middle and Working Classes in the Colony....'.

An advertisement asking for subscriptions for the proposed work appears at the head of column 3 of the Morning Chronicle (20 September 1845): 1.

A pamphlet letter to Earl Grey, Emigration and Transportation Relatively Considered (London, 1847) included eighteen statements of voluntary information in an appendix and more were published in Comfort for the Poor : Meat Three Times a Day! Voluntary Information from the People of New South Wales, Collected in That Colony by Mrs Chisholm in 1845-46 (London, 1847)
