AbstractHistoryArchive Description

This play draws upon Rosenberg's poetry and quotations from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice to dramatise an informal tribunal or debate on whether the play should be considered anti-semitic. Characters include a Narrator, Stagemaster, Spirit and Clown.

Production Details

  • First staged at the Tower Theatre at the Malthouse, Melbourne, on 7 December 2006. Subsequently performed on 11 September 2010 by the Melbourne Shakespeare Society, directed by Wilfred Last and Judith Rodriguez. [Source: Alex Skovon, 'Landscapes of Disenchantment and Hope']
