'Queensland historically has been linked to distinctly male, nineteenth-century motifs and myths -frontierism, the lone bushman, the landholder, and the maverick outsider. But from colonial times these have been challenged by women writers who have offered insightful alternative commentaries on Queensland life and landscape.
