AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A detailed report on the inquest, held in Grafton, into James Lionel Michael's death. The report also includes biographical information, and the text of the poem (found among Michael's personal effects) 'What Songs Were They'. The poem was incorporated into a letter to Mr Stevenson. The letter, dated Christmas 1867, included instructions to be carried out in the event of Michael's death.
