The writer calls on the residents of Cairns to overcome their apathy and establish a bathing area safe from crocodiles and sharks. He points out that hotel and store keepers should realise that swimming baths would make Cairns more popular amongst visitors and urges them to establish baths before the 'perspiring season'.
