Notes

  • Author's note: 'Belgrave-terrace, February 7.'
  • A letter from J.Sheridan Moore which gives background on his poem 'Life and Love', which had initially been published in the Month in 1858. Unbeknown to Moore, the poem had recently been republished in the Interpreter (a Melbourne journal). In his letter Moore states that at the time the poem appeared in the Month, 'I was weak enough to allow Mr. Frank Fowler [then editor], in the exercise of a bit of sharp practice, to have advertised, that the poem was originally written in London for the Month.'
