Notes

  • One of a number of letters which Moore wrote to the Sydney press in January 1857, following his resignation as editor of the Freeman's Journal.

This letter is remarkable for Moore's appeal to various authors (all listed by 'nom de plume') to discontinue their contributions to the Freeman's Journal. The authors listed by Moore were: 'Barney Maguire', 'Sarafield O'Sullivan', 'Signor Nicholsoni', 'Fogran', 'An Australian Celt', 'The Connaught Ranger', 'Washington Wakeful', 'Barney Molloy', 'O.D.', 'Frank Lemon', 'Kate Algernon Applesby', 'Kate', 'Alice', 'Mary', 'Mary of Galway', 'L.L.L.', 'M.M.M.'
