John Stuart Realises His Life's Ambition, Bernard Cronin , single work column

This, the ninth in a series on pioneers and explorers, tells of John McDouall Stuart's expeditions from Adelaide to Northern Australia. His final expedition marked the route for the Overland Telegraph Line which linked Adelaide with the rest of the world. Stuart had suffered such hardships during his explorations that his health was broken and his eyesight compromised.

A man listens to a farmer making plans for his year's cropping but then discovers that the farmer has made the same plans for his farm for the last three years. However, he has done no work on his farm, not even putting up buildings on his property during that time.
