'The book examines why Governor murdered nine people, as well as the treatment of Aborigines by the Europeans who invaded their lands. Pursued through the bush by 100 police and as many civilians, Governor and his brother Joe evaded capture for more than three months. Defined as a half-caste, Governor challenged the white man's Aboriginal stereotype of 1900 - he was highly intelligent, better educated than many of his white contemporaries, personable, a hard worker and he did not drink alcohol.
