Notes

  • The central Australian goldfields lured men from all over Europe as well as China and other places in Australia. The real gold many found were new lives, marriages and families. More than a few of them married Aboriginal women. The above excerpts are from Kenny Laughton's second novel (in progress), an epic portrayal of the central Australian goldfields through the intimate reconstruction of real lives and journeys that intersected there, and through which the author traces part of his own family's story.
