First published out of Melbourne (Vic) by the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust (1956), the annual was published in 1959 by F. P. Publications (under editor F. R. Harvey). A well-known theatre critic, Harvey founded Theatregoer that same year and subsumed the Australian Theatre Year into the magazine.
