AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'With his hallmark visual flair, Matthew Lutton transports Hans Christian Andersen's most notorious tale into a swirling world of seductive songs and chilling imagery. A young man becomes obsessed with a pair of shiny red shoes. As they grow into his feet, he begins a hallucinogenic fall, which can only end in an unbelievable sacrifice. A potent mix of this master storyteller's most revealing tales, "Red Shoes" exposes Andersen's own peculiar fantasies, and our contemporary thirst for recognition and acceptance.
