AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Text written from the perspective of a baby, telling the story of his day in the form of a letter to his father. As such, the work has been jokingly attributed to the baby, Anthony James.

Notes

  • Dedication: 'Dedicated to the people who bet I was a boy and to a squadron-leader affectionately known as "Dear Old Pottie" (That name almost led to a certain coldness between us, having what I consider to be most unpleasant associations.) But Pottie it was who said - "Go on, son - make it an open letter - tell the world!" So here it is - and I've overlooked Pottie's misfortune, because I realise that he can't help it any more than I can help being Anthony James.'
  • Author's note: 'This is actually an authentic letter, written to Anthony's father - who read it aloud to his Brother Officers in an R.A.A.F. Mess. They roared with laughter and demanded copies, and it is now our pleasure to fulfil their request and present My Day by Anthony James.'
  • 'To everyone equipped with a sense of humour, this refreshing little book has an irresistible appeal. Anthony, at the tender age of seven months, brings you a laugh on every page with his candid comments and constructive ideas. Unk White, peeping from the sidelines, interprets Anthony's moods to perfection and his clever pencil takes you right along through the trials and tribulations of Anthony's Day.'
