Notes

  • Most reviews of Paton Place were critical of its excessive length and lack of strong material. As one critic noted, 'There are 52 numbers. Each has something to offer but somewhere, if the audience is to get home that night by public transport, the organisers must do some editing.'

Another reviewer wrote, 'At the end of Act One the show promised to drag on until 1 a.m. A merciful reprieve however was granted by the producer and the show ended at 11pm without curtain calls and to the sound of polite applause.' Both critics did note, however, that the actors partly made up for the production's shortcoming through their polished performances.

  • Although individual writing credits are not given in the programme, the following songs have been established as written by Peter Pinne:

    • 'Cafe Au Fait,' 'Who's Who,' 'Down the Lane', and 'Moonee Ponds Ritual' (includes the songs 'Dance, Dance, Dance,' 'Powerhouse Waltz,' 'Exhibition Dancers', and Miss Danceland').
