  • The most well-known of Rebecca Morton's poems, "Faded Suits of Green was written in 1943, when the Red Cross trains were carrying away from Cairns, the wounded and fever-stricken from the tortures of Milne Bay, Kokoda and the Buna-Gona Trail." (Author's note)
  • The two lines at the end of verse nine, "Glory, everlasting glory for those Faded Suits of Green", were placed there by the then editor of the Australian Women's Weekly, when this poem was first published therein.
