BiographyHistory

Father of Clive Morton and husband of Rebecca Morton (qq.v.). Harry Morton was the son of a pioneering Laidley-Mortonvale district family, and attained the rank of Lieutenant in the Horse Transport Unit of the Australian Army Service Corps. He married in April 1929. Late on New Year's Eve, 1942, Lieutenant Harry Morton was riding back to Townsville Headquarters when he was struck by a R.A.A.F. lorry. He later died of his injuries.
