When ten-year-old Willie's schoolteacher mother catches typhoid and dies he is left alone. Nothing is known of his family and Bob the teamster announces he will adopt him. Bob is a kindly man and Willie is happy to become his son, but their plans are upset by a visitor to the small town.
A young woman throws confetti in Bill Warwick's face, mistaking him for her cousin. Embarrassed, she runs away, but Bill is instantly smitten and sets out to search for her.
