  • A full page portrait of Browne (photo) appeared on the page opposite Daly's poem.
  • William Henry Browne (1846-1904) was a mining union organiser and an early Queensland Labour figure. From 1890, he held the seats of Burke, and then Croydon, in the Queensland Legislative Assembly. At the time of his death he was leader of the Labor Party in the Morgan-Browne Liberal/Labor coaliton government.
