  • One of the earliest broadside ballads on convict transportation, 'The Jolly Lad's Trip' may have been partly based on a popular song from Richard Brinsley Sheridan's 1781 pantomime Robinson Crusoe, which begins 'Come, come my jolly lads, the wind's abast'.
