The Sydney Monitor's correspondent contends that: 'However inferior the Colony of New South Wales may be considered in National importance, or in her commercial or other relations, when placed in a balance with other countries, no one, perhaps, will contend that she has not reached, in intellectual culture, and particularly in one department of literature, a degree of advancement far beyond her years'.
