'A Marked Soul is a domestic story, linked with past incidents at Port Arthur, Tasmania. The modern portion has war associations and the action is placed in Sydney, Tasmania (mainly the Tasman Peninsula), Gallipoli, Paris and London.' Australian Literature from its Beginnings to 1935 (1940).
