Notes

  • Alexander McCubbin was the son of artist Frederick McCubbin. He began his career at Lothian but left when Thomas Lothian fired Florence, a stenographer McCubbin was becoming romantically involved with. They subsequently married and after McCubbin's partnership with Val Byrne dissolved ran the publishing house together. McCubbin died in a car accident in 1948. (from Mangan, Kathleen. Autumn Memories: A McCubbin Family Album. p.39-44)
