AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The Boy's Birth-Day Book is a collection of short adventure stories and poems for boys. Many of the stories revolve around discovery, adventures and the exploration of new areas within the colonies. They reflect the moral code of the period with piousness, honesty, education, respect, and physical accomplishments being regarded as the proper conduct for young boys to grow up into respected gentlemen. Includes stories about ascending Mont Blanc, battle stories, adventures from the colonies, and moral tales which demonstrate the good that can come of behaving honourably in keeping with the social expectations of the time.
