A lodger is accepted into a Melbourne household who has recovered from earlier fits of insanity. One night his mania is rekindled by alcohol and a night of terror follows. (PB)

Notes

  • Editor's note at end of tale points this out as a literary theft - apart from the Melbourne setting and names of characters and first paragraph it is 'The Doctor's Mad Lodger' by Herbert Radcliffe, republished from an overseas journal in the AJ of Aug 1873. (PB)
