Writing in 1985, Stephanie Owen Reeder looks at picture books from the late 1970s and early 1980s that illustrate Australian themes. She divides them into three categories, those that illustrate traditional Australian verse, those that interpret Aboriginal legends, and those that depict original 'Australiana'.
