Notes

  • Dedication: To my friends and associates, including students and young people, who have together formed and/or supported the NSW Vietnamese Refugee Support Committee in our voluntary efforts to help, assist and advocate for Vietnamese asylum seekers in South-east Asia and Hong Kong over the years (p. vi).
  • Author's endnote: Shortly after the exodus of Kosovars, starting 23 March 1999l, I penned the first poem, inspired by their traumatic displacement, as captured by the image of a young girl resting her crying head on her crying mother. (I then circulated this poem amongst my friends to ask for support for these refugees)
For the next just over two months I followed their trail of horror and recorded their circumstances in inspirational poetry. Altogether about one hundred and twenty poems. All in this book.
