The Quest series described its publications as "the natural successors to a series of discussion pamphlets pioneered by the Australian Army Education Service" with the aim of attempting "to form coherent opinions about things that affect us directly in our daily lives or that interest us strongly as individuals...The Publishers of Quest hope that this series, written by Australians for Australian readers, will do a useful service in this country." Titles explored social and cultural issues particularly relevant to the post World War Two era.
