AbstractHistoryArchive Description

Bert Turnley purchased the proprietorshop of the Morwell Advertiser from John English and the first issue under the new owner was published 7 July 1888. The editorship of the paper also changed. The numbering continues from the previous paper. Guest and Stevens of the Traralgon Record bought the paper from Bert Turnley in February 1894. 'Although Mr. Turnley has severed his connection with the paper his many friends will, we feel sure, be glad to know that contritutions from his facile pen will occasionally appear in its columns (9 February, 1894 p. 2) George Watson bought the Morwell Advertiser newspaper from Guest & Stevens in June 1896. He printed and published the paper from August 1896. 'The Watsons' continued publishing the Advertiser for over fifty years until 26 October 1944 when the paper 'changed hands' and from the beginning of November 1844 was printed and published by J. G. Lawless.
