AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Aphrodite, Ancient Fertility Goddess of Love from Old Greece and originally from her beloved island of Cyprus, suddenly finds herself in Melbourne 1991. She endows us with an outsider's view of the city's avant-garde artists and fringe-dwellers, as she throws herself wholeheartedly into the mainstream of its flourishing sub-culture. She lives in a church squat with three people; Harry, Jet and Brenda. Through her eyes, her thoughts and comments, Brunswick Street Fitzroy and its environs become the Centre of the World for a few magical weeks.' (Back cover).
