First produced by the Australian Performing Group at the Pram Factory Theatre, Melbourne, November-December 1976, directed by Romeril.
The first unperformed version was written for a theatre restaurant venue, a bowdlerized version was later performed. An adaptation entitled The Dud War, revised by Romeril when he was writer-in-residence at the Drama Department, University of Newcastle in 1979, and performed by the drama students, was directed by Terence Clarke, 1981.
