For all these reasons a group of Australian poets decided that many other people might wish to combine with them in making some permanent record of their appreciation to Douglas Stewart....It was thought that a more appropriate gesture to Douglas Stewart would be to publish a poem characteristic of his latest work in the form of a handsome book.
