Notes

  • Dedication: These lyrics are transcribed to perpetuate the memory of a dearly beloved son, and as a last sad tribute by his father.
No more will greet my longing ear/ Those words of love, of music spoken,/ Grav'd on my soul by mem'ry dear-/ Alas! his 'Silver Cord is broken.'
John Robertson, Balmain, 4th Oct., 1867
