A poetic dialogue between Dennis' famous character "The Sentimental Bloke" and Arthur Phillip, founding governor of New South Wales, on Sydney and the new Harbour Bridge.

Notes

  • Published gratis as a promotional device for Lewis Berger & Sons, paint manufacturers. An advertisement on the last page of the original publication states that '60,000 gallons of Berger's Paint ... were used for the protection of the steel-work of the Sydney Harbour Bridge'. On several occasions in the poem, Dennis uses the Berger slogan, 'Keeps On Keeping On'.
