Notes:
Tales of the Colonies was first serialised in The British Queen and Statesman (London) from no. 473 (8 October 1842) to no. 510 (24 June 1843).
The serialisation was discontinued with vol. 3, chapter 7 of the Saunders & Otley edition. The issue of 24 June 1843 began to advertise the published novel, and the issues of 1 July 1843, 5 August 1843, and 19 August 1843 reprinted reviews of the novel.
