BiographyHistory

Chris Papachristos was born in Yannina, Greece. He finished elementary school and the first three years of high school in Yannina, and then continued high school when he arrived in Melbourne. In 1976 he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Greek, German and Classical Studies at the University of Melbourne; in 1977 a Diploma of Education at Melbourne State College and, in 1978, the Post-graduate Diploma in German at the University of Melbourne. He has taught Greek and Classical Civilisation at Melbourne high schools. His short story, The Garden of the Hesperides, was a finalist in the 1981 Age Short Story Competition.
