Nicholas Manning graduated with a BA in Comparative Literature and French from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Queensland. He received a three year scholarship to the Ecole normale superieure in Paris, completing a Maitrise (MA) at the Sorbonne with a thesis on the contemporary French poet Philippe Jaccottet. He has published poetry in Australian and international journals. He won a Young Playwright Award for a one-act play in 1998. The play was produced by the Queensland Theatre Company.
