BiographyHistory

Founded in 1911 Rural Press Limited was an Australian media company which at one stage owned more than 160 (predominantly rural) newspapers and magazines, including the Canberra Times. The company also owned regional radio stations in South Australia and Queensland, a number of classified advertising websites, and Australian commercial printing plants, and several agricultural-orientated publications in the United States and New Zealand.

The company acquired Dubbo (NSW)-based Macquarie Publications in 1995 and eventually ceased operating under it's original name in 2007 after merging with John Fairfax Holdings in 2007.
