BiographyHistory

Douglas Ancelon was lessee and manager of Hobart's Theatre Royal in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and also toured a dramatic company around Australia, New Zealand and the USA. With his wife, Stella Chapman, Ancelon operated a teaching academy in Sydney during the late1900s and 1910s. The couple were at once stage in partnership with Walter Bentley at the College of Elocution and Dramatic Art.
