BiographyHistory

Nathanael O’Reilly was born in Warrnambool and grew up in Ballarat, Brisbane, and Shepparton. His ancestry is predominantly Irish and English, and he holds both Irish and Australian citizenship. He attended Monash University and the University of Ballarat before leaving Australia in 1995. O’Reilly completed a Ph.D. at Western Michigan University and teaches creative writing and literary studies at The University of Texas at Arlington. His poetry and literary criticism have been published in North American, European, Asian and Australasian journals. From 2012 until 2016, he was the president of the American Association for Australasian Literary Studies. In 2021, he became the poetry editor for Antipodes
