BiographyHistory

Nova Peris won the 1997 Young Australian of the Year award in recognition of her achievements throughout her career. She won a gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics (1996) with the Australian women's hockey team. Nova was both the first Aboriginal Australian, and also the first Northern Territorian, to win an Olympic gold medal.
